About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and hands-on R&D Manager to lead cosmetic product development from concept to final formulation. The candidate will be responsible for formulation development, troubleshooting, stability evaluation, documentation, and coordination with clients, production and other internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Formulation & Product Development
- Develop and optimise formulations for skincare, haircare, body care and other personal-care products.
- Handle formulation trials, reformulations and product optimisation.
- Select suitable active ingredients, excipients and raw materials based on product requirements.
- Conduct scale-up trials and support transfer of formulations from laboratory to production.
- Develop products according to client briefs, market trends and performance requirements.
2. R&D Laboratory Management
- Plan and supervise day-to-day R&D activities and laboratory trials.
- Maintain proper records of formulations, trials, observations and results.
- Ensure proper utilisation and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Maintain laboratory discipline, safety and good documentation practices.
3. Troubleshooting & Quality
- Identify and resolve formulation-related issues such as stability problems, separation, viscosity changes, colour/odour changes and compatibility issues.
- Conduct and monitor stability studies and product performance evaluations.
- Work closely with QC/QA and production teams to resolve product-related issues.
- Ensure formulations meet agreed specifications and quality requirements.
4. Team Management
- Lead and guide R&D executives/formulators.
- Allocate projects and trials among team members and monitor timelines.
- Train junior team members on formulation techniques, documentation and laboratory practices.
- Review the quality and progress of work performed by the R&D team.
5. Client & Project Coordination
- Understand client requirements and convert briefs into practical formulation concepts.
- Communicate formulation progress, challenges and timelines to management/clients.
- Coordinate sampling, revisions and finalisation of products.
- Maintain confidentiality of client formulations and proprietary information.
6. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain formulation sheets, master formulas, trial records, specifications and development reports.
- Ensure proper documentation of raw materials, formulation changes and product development history.
- Stay updated on relevant cosmetic regulations, ingredient restrictions and industry standards.
- Support regulatory and technical documentation whenever required.
Pay: Up to ₹480,000.00 per year
