Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead the Machining Business Unit, specializing in CNC/VMC operations. The role involves overseeing production planning, machining processes, quality compliance, and team management to meet the stringent standards of railway electrical manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage CNC/VMC machining operations for electrical components used in railway applications
- Plan and execute production schedules to meet delivery timelines
- Optimize machine utilization, cycle time, and productivity
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and railway compliance requirements
- Monitor tooling, fixture design, and machining processes for efficiency
- Coordinate with design, quality, maintenance, and supply chain teams
- Implement lean manufacturing, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Analyze production data, rejection rates, and downtime, and take corrective actions
- Ensure proper preventive maintenance planning for machines
- Manage manpower, training, and performance of shop floor teams
- Maintain safety standards and regulatory compliance
Required Skills:
- Strong expertise in CNC/VMC programming and operations
- Knowledge of G-code, tooling, and machining processes
- Experience in production planning and control (PPC)
- Familiarity with railway industry standards and quality systems (preferred)
- Understanding of ISO quality standards and documentation
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Ability to analyze production data and improve efficiency
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 8–10 years of experience in machining/production, preferably in electrical or railway manufacturing
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP/Oracle)
- Knowledge of Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing tools
- Exposure to railway projects (RDSO/IR standards).
