Key Responsibilities
Product & Material Strategy
● Develop and execute the company's leather and material sourcing strategy.
● Build a strong, scalable supplier ecosystem across domestic and international tanneries.
● Identify new materials, finishes, and innovations aligned with customer requirements.
● Drive value engineering without compromising luxury quality standards.
Leather Procurement
Lead the Leather Procurement function by:
● Managing strategic relationships with tannery partners.
● Negotiating pricing and commercial agreements.
● Ensuring leather is developed and delivered according to customer timelines.
● Monitoring tannery performance on quality, lead time, and responsiveness.
● Working closely with Merchandising during customer developments.
Raw Material Procurement
Oversee procurement of:
● Wet blue hides
● Crust leather
● Other leather inputs
Responsibilities include:
● Procurement planning
● Inventory optimization
● Warehouse coordination
● Cost control
● Supplier development
● Forecasting material requirements
Supplier Management
● Build long-term partnerships with key suppliers.
● Establish supplier scorecards.
● Conduct quarterly supplier business reviews.
● Develop alternate sourcing strategies to reduce risk.
● Ensure ethical sourcing and compliance.
Cross Functional Leadership
Partner closely with:
● Merchandising
● Sampling
● Production
● Quality
● Planning
● Finance
Ensure material availability never becomes a bottleneck to customer commitments.
Cost & Margin Improvement
● Drive annual material cost reduction initiatives.
● Improve leather utilization.
● Reduce wastage.
● Optimize inventory.
● Improve supplier payment terms where appropriate.
Product Innovation
● Continuously scout new leather technologies, finishes, and sustainable materials.
● Introduce new suppliers capable of supporting premium global brands.
● Support customer innovation initiatives.
Team Leadership
Directly manage:
● Manager – Leather Procurement
● Manager – Raw Material Procurement
Qualifications
● Bachelor's degree in Leather Technology, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related discipline.
● MBA preferred.
● 10–15 years of experience in leather, footwear, handbags, garments, or luxury manufacturing.
● Strong understanding of leather production from wet blue through finished leather.
● Experience managing tannery relationships.
● Proven procurement negotiation experience.
● Experience leading cross-functional teams.
● Strong commercial and analytical skills.
● Excellent leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
Pay: Up to ₹2,400,000.00 per year
