Job Summary
The Hospital General Manager oversees daily hospital operations to ensure efficient healthcare delivery, patient satisfaction, regulatory compliance, and financial sustainability. The GM coordinates across medical, administrative, and support departments to achieve organizational goals and maintain high standards of patient care.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperations Management
- Oversee day-to-day hospital operations
- Ensure smooth functioning of OPD, IPD, emergency, pharmacy, diagnostics, and support services
- Monitor hospital performance metrics and operational efficiency
- Implement process improvements and quality initiatives
Strategic Planning
- Develop and execute hospital growth strategies
- Support expansion plans, service development, and new healthcare programs
- Analyze market trends and competition
Financial Management
- Prepare and manage budgets
- Control operational costs and optimize revenue
- Monitor billing, collections, insurance claims, and financial reporting
- Ensure profitability and financial sustainability
Human Resource Management
- Supervise department heads and administrative staff
- Participate in recruitment, training, and performance evaluations
- Promote employee engagement and workplace discipline
Patient Care & Quality Assurance
- Ensure high-quality patient services and satisfaction
- Handle patient grievances and escalation issues
- Maintain accreditation standards such as NABH or JCI compliance
- Ensure infection control and patient safety protocols
Regulatory & Legal Compliance
- Ensure compliance with healthcare laws and government regulations
- Maintain licenses, permits, and statutory documentation
- Coordinate audits and inspections
Vendor & Facility Management
- Manage contracts with suppliers and service providers
- Oversee maintenance, biomedical equipment, housekeeping, and security services
Reporting & Coordination
- Report operational and financial performance to senior leadership or hospital owners
- Coordinate with doctors, consultants, nursing teams, and external stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospital Administration, Healthcare Management, Business Administration, or related field
- Master’s degree such as MBA (Hospital Management) or MHA preferred
- Experience in hospital administration or healthcare operations
