We are seeking a senior, hands‑on Controller who will take ownership of our accounting function and serve as a direct business partner to the President. This role is critical to helping leadership understand the business, define the right financial and operational reports, and prepare our systems for future growth, including MRP/ERP integration.
QuickBooks expertise is required. The ideal candidate goes beyond traditional accounting—someone who learns how the business truly operates and translates that knowledge into clear, actionable insights that drive decision‑making at the executive level.
This is a remote role suited for a high‑caliber finance professional who thrives in manufacturing environments and is comfortable operating with visibility and accountability at the top of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Leadership
- Own and optimize the company’s accounting operations using QuickBooks
- Ensure accurate, timely, and GAAP‑compliant financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, annual)
- Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, and cost accounting
- Strengthen and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
Business Insight & Reporting
- Develop and refine financial and operational reports that leadership relies on to run the business
- Partner with leadership to determine what metrics matter most and why
- Perform financial, cost, margin, and trend analyses to support pricing, profitability, and operational decisions
- Prepare clear, executive‑level financial summaries and dashboards
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis across departments
- Monitor performance against budget and provide proactive insights and recommendations
- Support cash flow planning and financial scenario analysis
Manufacturing & Systems Focus
- Support product costing, inventory accuracy, and manufacturing‑related financial processes
- Help prepare the organization for future MRP/ERP integration, including:
- Assessing system readiness and data quality
- Supporting system selection and implementation planning
- Aligning financial reporting with operational workflows
Compliance & External Support
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals as needed
- Support income, sales, and other applicable tax filings
- Ensure confidentiality, data security, and proper records retention
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
- CPA, CMA, and/or Master’s degree (preferred)
- 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, ideally in manufacturing or packaging
- Advanced, hands‑on experience with QuickBooks (required)
- Strong background in cost accounting, inventory, and manufacturing financials
- Experience with or exposure to MRP/ERP systems or system transitions strongly preferred
- Proven ability to translate business operations into meaningful financial insight
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Comfortable working independently in a remote environment while partnering closely with leadership
