About the Role
We are looking for an experienced SPM Proposal Engineer with expertise in metal cutting Special Purpose Machines (SPMs), CNC machines, and automated machining systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing techno-commercial proposals, tooling concepts, machining process planning, cycle time estimation, and cost analysis for customized manufacturing solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop technical proposals and costing for metal cutting SPMs and automated machining systems.
- Conceptualize and design special cutting tools such as form tools, combination tools, multi-step drills, reamers, and milling cutters based on customer requirements.
- Prepare and validate tooling layouts, machining sequences, and manufacturing feasibility studies.
- Create detailed machining processes including operation sheets, tool lists, and setup plans.
- Perform cycle time estimation, process optimization, and cutting parameter selection.
- Support quotation teams with technical inputs related to tooling concepts, machine configuration, and project costing.
- Collaborate with design, fixture, and process planning teams to ensure complete system feasibility.
- Coordinate with suppliers and tool manufacturers for technical discussions, costing, and approvals.
- Maintain standardization and databases for tooling designs, process parameters, and performance metrics.
- Prepare Design Approval Process (DAP) documentation and validate supplier submissions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Production, or Mechatronics Engineering.
- Diploma holders with strong relevant experience may also be considered.
- 4–8 years of experience in proposal engineering for metal cutting SPMs, CNC machines, or automated machining systems.
Required Skills
- Experience with Special Purpose Machines (SPM) and metal cutting applications.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or Siemens NX.
- Strong understanding of CNC, PLC, and motion control systems.
- Knowledge of Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, and Allen-Bradley systems.
- Expertise in machining processes including milling, drilling, boring, reaming, tapping, and deep hole drilling.
- Familiarity with cutting tools, tooling layouts, and fixture design.
- Hands-on experience with GD&T, tolerance analysis, and machine kinematics.
- Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in industrial automation.
- Experience in cycle time estimation and process optimization.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Experience
- Exposure to process capability studies including CP, CPK, and CPC calculations.
- Experience supporting techno-commercial proposals and customer discussions.
- Knowledge of tooling cost estimation and manufacturing feasibility analysis.
Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹80,000.00 per month
