Roles and Responsibilities of a Steward
- Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, kitchen equipment, and work areas.
- Wash pots, pans, trays, and other kitchen items.
- Keep the kitchen, storage areas, and dishwashing area clean and organized.
- Dispose of garbage and recyclables properly.
- Ensure cleaning chemicals are used safely and stored correctly.
- Assist chefs and kitchen staff by maintaining a clean and efficient workspace.
- Receive, store, and organize kitchen supplies and equipment.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
- Report damaged equipment or maintenance issues to supervisors.
- Help with setting up and closing the kitchen at the beginning and end of shifts.
- Comply with workplace health and safety regulations.
- Support the kitchen team during busy service periods as needed.
