Job Summary:
The Electrician is responsible for installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems onboard ships and marine structures. The role ensures all electrical works are executed as per approved drawings, marine standards, and client specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install electrical systems including cables, panels, switchboards, lighting, and power distribution systems onboard vessels.
- Perform cable pulling, glanding, termination, and cable tray installation.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and layout plans.
- Install and connect motors, transformers, generators, and control systems.
- Carry out testing, insulation resistance (IR) testing, continuity checks, and troubleshooting.
- Support commissioning activities and system integration.
- Ensure compliance with marine classification standards such as Lloyd’s Register, ABS, and DNV.
- Follow safety regulations and permit-to-work systems in shipyard environments.
- Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and QA/QC teams for inspections.
- Rectify electrical faults during construction and sea trials.
Required Qualifications:
- ITI / Diploma in Electrical Engineering or relevant trade certification.
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, or marine projects.
- Knowledge of marine electrical standards and safety practices.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
