Job Description – Primary Mathematics Teacher
Position: Primary Mathematics Teacher
Department: Academics
Reporting To: Primary Coordinator / Head of School
Role Purpose
The Primary Mathematics Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and effective mathematics instruction to primary school students, fostering conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, and a positive attitude towards learning mathematics. The teacher will create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that supports the academic and holistic development of every child.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver age-appropriate mathematics lessons aligned with the school's curriculum and learning objectives.
- Develop students' numerical, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills through interactive and differentiated teaching strategies.
- Assess, record, and monitor student progress using a variety of formative and summative assessment methods.
- Create an engaging classroom environment that encourages curiosity, participation, and independent learning.
- Identify students requiring additional support or enrichment and implement appropriate intervention strategies.
- Integrate technology, hands-on activities, and real-life applications into mathematics teaching.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, lesson plans, and student performance.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, achievements, and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with coordinators, fellow teachers, and support staff to ensure effective curriculum delivery and student well-being.
- Participate actively in school events, professional development programs, parent-teacher meetings, and other academic initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with school policies, child safety guidelines, and educational standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics
- B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) is mandatory.
- Minimum 2–5 years of teaching experience in primary grades.
- Strong understanding of primary mathematics pedagogy and child development.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and digital learning tools.
