About Dhwani
Dhwani Rural Information Systems (Dhwani RIS) is a social/development sector-focused advisory and consulting firm that develops IT applications for NGOs, government functionaries, CSRs, and international funding organizations to manage their projects and programs in India and abroad. We build technology solutions that support programme management, grants management, HR processes, finance, operations, monitoring & evaluation, and impact reporting. Our work combines technology, data, and social impact to solve real-world challenges at scale.
About the Role
We are looking for an Associate Project Manager to join our Product team. This is a cross-functional role that sits at the intersection of product development and client delivery — you will contribute to building and improving Dhwani’s own platforms while supporting the delivery of ERPNext/Frappe-based solutions for NGOs, CSR foundations, government agencies, and development organizations. You will work closely with developers, Business Analysts, Implementation Teams, and clients to drive projects from requirements to release — organizing complexity, maintaining quality, and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.
- Bridge technology and social impact — manage products and projects that power NGOs, CSR foundations, governments, and development organizations.
- Work across ERPNext/Frappe-based platforms spanning programme management, grants, HR, operations, and impact reporting.
- If you enjoy organizing complexity and driving delivery at the intersection of technology and social good, we’d like to hear from you.
What You’ll Do
- Support end-to-end delivery of software development projects for social/development sector clients, ensuring timely, quality outcomes.
- Assist in product planning, requirement gathering, and writing functional specifications — BRD, SRS, FRS, FDD, and user stories.
- Work with developers, QA specialists, and Business Analysts to track progress, resolve blockers, and maintain delivery standards.
- Manage project tracking, task assignments, and reporting using tools such as ClickUp, JIRA, or Trello.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation including technical specs, training manuals, testing plans, and M&E and reporting framework designs.
- Support dashboard design and contribute to data and reporting framework decisions.
- Identify and mitigate project risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies (RAIDs) throughout the project lifecycle.
- Act as a key point of contact for client interactions with NGOs, CSR foundations, and government partners.
- Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously, ensuring proactive communication, stakeholder alignment, expectation management, timely follow-ups, and successful project delivery.
- Coordinate effectively across clients, Product Managers, Business Analysts, developers, QA teams, implementation teams, and leadership to resolve issues, manage dependencies, mitigate risks, and maintain strong stakeholder relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
- Facilitate UAT, field training, and client onboarding activities.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts, Project Managers, Implementation Teams, and stakeholders to align requirements with delivery.
- Support adoption of Scrum/Agile practices for transparent communication and timely project updates.
What We're Looking For
We value ownership, clear communication, and the ability to organize complexity over familiarity with specific tools. You will thrive in this role if you:
- Take ownership of delivery end-to-end and follow through without being micromanaged.
- Communicate clearly and confidently with both technical teams and non-technical clients.
- Are structured, detail-oriented, and proactive in flagging risks early.
- Have a genuine interest in working at the intersection of technology and social impact.
- Are comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-project environment with diverse stakeholders.
- Can leverage AI tools responsibly to improve documentation, planning, and communication quality.
Must-Haves Experience
- 2–3 years of experience in technical project management, product management, or a closely related role.
- Demonstrated experience managing software development projects end-to-end.
- Experience writing functional documentation — BRD, SRS, FRS, user stories, or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience with project management and bug-tracking tools (ClickUp, JIRA, Trello, or similar).
- Ability to confidently discuss projects you have managed and your specific contribution to delivery.
Professional & Technical Skills
- Good understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) — Agile and Waterfall.
- Familiarity with at least one tech stack — Java, PHP, MEAN, MERN, Python, or similar. Exposure to low-code/no-code platforms such as Frappe/ERPNext is a strong plus.
- Working knowledge of database concepts, API documentation, and system integration basics.
- Strong written communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills. Accountability, ownership mindset, and action-oriented approach to delivery.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Good to Have
- Certification in Scrum Master, Agile, or PMP. Prior exposure to ERPNext/Frappe-based implementations or products.
- Experience in the social/development sector — NGOs, CSR, or government technology programmes.
- Familiarity with M&E frameworks, impact reporting, or programme management platforms.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization, or DevOps concepts. Hands-on exposure to low-code/no-code platforms (Frappe, ERPNext, Appsmith, OutSystems, or similar).
- PGD in Rural Management or Public Policy is a plus.
AI in Your Workflow
At Dhwani, AI tools are part of how we work every day — across product thinking, documentation, planning, communication, and analysis. We actively encourage their use. For this role, we expect you to use AI tools to improve the quality and speed of your documentation, research, and decision-making. However, you are expected to apply your own judgment, validate outputs, and take ownership of the work you produce. AI assists — it does not replace accountability.
