Who are we?
Sicame India is part of Sicame Group, a global industrial Group founded in France in 1955 and present worldwide. Specialized in products and services related to transmission and distribution of electrical energy, renewables, electro-mobility, safety equipment and industrial applications, it became the largest independent entity in its sector today.
Sicame India was established in 2006 to support the “MAKE IN INDIA” vision and meet India’s evolving power needs. Today, with a modern manufacturing facility and accredited engineering and testing center in Chennai, Sicame India serves major utilities and industries with innovative, reliable, and sustainable solutions while helping build the future of energy in India.
Your responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and validate various Connectors for LV/MV overhead networks, ensuring reliable insulation displacement and contact performance.
- Perform design calculations for contact resistance, current-carrying capacity, short-circuit withstand, and mechanical pull-out strength.
- Perform mechanical load analysis including conductor tension, vibration fatigue, and creep.
- Perform and document engineering calculations for product sizing, load ratings, safety factors, and material selection.
- Prepare and review 3D models, engineering drawings, and GD&T specifications using Creo (PTC).
- Manage engineering documents through PLM/PDM systems ensuring accurate version control and change management.
- Prepare technical specifications, product datasheets, and installation guides.
- Define and oversee execution of type tests, routine tests, sample tests, and qualification tests as per applicable standards.
- Conduct systematic root cause analysis (RCA) using 8D, Fishbone, or FMEA methodologies.
- Prepare, review, and maintain technical specifications, engineering reports, test procedures, and design records.
Required profile:
- Minimum 8 to 12 years of relevant engineering experience in design, development, or testing of medium/high voltage overhead line accessories and connectors.
- Experience working in the overhead transmission and/or distribution sector.
- Prior experience in an R&D, product engineering, or application engineering role within an electrical company is preferred.
- Proficiency in Creo (PTC) for 3D modelling and drawing preparation; ANSYS (structural/thermal simulation) is a distinct advantage.
- Working knowledge of PLM/PDM systems (e.g., Windchill, Teamcenter, or equivalent) for engineering data and change management.
- Strong grounding in mechanical engineering principles: stress analysis, material science, fatigue, surface treatment, and corrosion protection.
- Good electrical engineering fundamentals: contact resistance, current-carrying capacity, dielectric performance, and insulation coordination.
- Familiarity with key standards like IEC,ANSI,IEEE etc
