Job Description
We are looking for a Fashion Designer cum Merchandiser to join our growing textile business specializing in dupattas. We primarily supply dupattas to corporate clients and kurti manufacturers.
The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of textile design, merchandising, supplier coordination, and client handling. The role requires creativity as well as strong follow-up and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Create new dupatta designs, patterns, color combinations, and concepts.
- Suggest design ideas and trends to kurti manufacturing clients.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors regarding sampling, production, and deliveries.
- Take regular follow-ups with suppliers to ensure timely execution of orders.
- Communicate with buyers and clients regarding product requirements and order status.
- Develop new design collections based on market trends and customer demand.
- Maintain records of orders, samples, approvals, and production updates.
- Assist in product development and merchandising activities.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in fashion design, textile design, or merchandising preferred.
- Knowledge of fabrics, prints, embroidery, and garment accessories.
- Good communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers, and buyers.
- Proficiency in CorelDRAW, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or similar design software is an advantage.
- Creative mindset with strong attention to detail.
Preferred Candidate
- Experience in ethnic wear, dupattas, fabrics, or women's apparel.
- Ability to identify market trends and develop commercially viable designs.
- Comfortable handling both design and merchandising responsibilities.
