Job Summary
The Assistant Nursing Superintendent (ANS) is responsible for assisting in the overall administration, supervision, and coordination of nursing services in the hospital. The role ensures quality patient care, nursing discipline, manpower management, infection control compliance, and smooth functioning of all assigned nursing units.
Key ResponsibilitiesNursing Administration
- Assist the Nursing Superintendent in managing daily nursing operations.
- Supervise nursing staff across assigned departments and shifts.
- Ensure adequate nursing manpower allocation and duty roster management.
- Monitor attendance, punctuality, and discipline of nursing staff.
- Coordinate with consultants, department heads, and other healthcare teams.
Patient Care Management
- Ensure high standards of patient care and nursing practices.
- Monitor implementation of nursing protocols and hospital policies.
- Handle patient complaints related to nursing services and take corrective action.
- Ensure proper documentation of nursing records and reports.
Staff Supervision & Training
- Guide and support Staff Nurses, Nursing Supervisors, and Junior Nurses.
- Conduct orientation programs for newly joined nursing staff.
- Identify training needs and coordinate continuous nursing education programs.
- Evaluate staff performance and provide feedback for improvement.
Infection Control & Quality
- Ensure adherence to infection control practices and NABH protocols.
- Monitor biomedical waste management compliance.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and nursing audits.
- Ensure medication safety and patient safety standards.
Emergency & Operational Support
- Respond to emergency situations and coordinate nursing support.
- Ensure availability of emergency drugs, equipment, and consumables.
- Coordinate interdepartmental activities for smooth patient care services.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain nursing records, reports, incident reports, and compliance documents.
- Prepare daily census, manpower, and departmental reports.
- Assist in accreditation and statutory audit documentation.
Qualification
- B.Sc Nursing / M.Sc Nursing
- Registered Nurse & Registered Midwife (RN/RM)
Experience
- Minimum 10–15 years of clinical and nursing administration experience in a hospital setup.
- Prior supervisory experience preferred.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
