The Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving the growth of the Contract/ Clinical Research Services, with a focus on building client relationships, securing contracts, and expanding the company’s footprint in clinical research, regulatory consulting, and related healthcare services.
This role demands a hands-on, entrepreneurial mindset to establish the business pipeline from scratch, identify new opportunities, and position the company as a trusted partner for sponsors.
- Identify new business opportunities across pharma, biotech, medical devices, and healthcare sectors in existing and emerging markets.
- Expand CRO (Contract Research Organization) service portfolio, including clinical trials, regulatory support, and data management.
- Build and nurture long-term relationships with sponsors to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.
- Generate leads via cold calling, networking, social media, and online platforms to pitch CRO services.
- Spearhead deal negotiations, contract closures, and strategic partnerships.
- Partner with leadership, project managers, and operations teams to meet client expectations, timelines, and budgets.
- Develop tailored proposals, cost estimates, and service packages aligned with client needs and CRO capabilities.
- Collaborate with clinical, regulatory, and data teams to craft compelling proposals and contracts.
- Negotiate contract terms balancing CRO profitability and client goals.
- Proven expertise in closing complex deals and contract negotiations.
- Strong analytical skills for market trend analysis and performance tracking.
- Bachelor's/Master's in Life Sciences, Pharmacy with deep understanding of clinical research, e.g., ICH-GCP [i.e. International Council for Harmonisation - Good Clinical Practice] or Regulatory affairs.
- 5+ years in BD/sales within CRO/Pharma, with proven track record of closing deals, ideally in India clinical trials.
- Prior CRA - Clinical Research Associate role (2+ years preferred) with hands-on monitoring expertise for credible pitching on trial feasibility, timelines, and risks, is an added advantage.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of clinical trial phases, CRO services (e.g., EDC, IWRS, Site management), Regulatory frameworks/ authorities (CDSCO, EMA, FDA), and advanced therapies. [Electronic Data Capture (EDC) and Interactive Web Response Systems (IWRS)]
- Soft Skills: Exceptional negotiation, communication, and relationship-building; results-oriented with ability to thrive in fast-paced, target-driven environments.
- IT Proficiency: Excellent in MS suites – Excel, PowerPoint, Word etc.
- Travel: Willingness to travel at short notice.
