Role Overview
The Site Commissioning Engineer is responsible for testing, commissioning, and energization of high- and medium-voltage substations, ensuring compliance with project specifications, international standards, and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Possess overall knowledge of high-voltage substation equipment and systems.
Execute site testing and commissioning of:
High Voltage (HV) and Medium Voltage (MV) switchgear
Power transformers
Auxiliary AC/DC supply systems
Control, protection, and substation automation / SCADA systems
Apply sound knowledge of substation control and protection philosophies, including interlocking and redundancy concepts.
Interpret and review control & protection schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
Prepare and submit:
Site testing and commissioning procedures
Method statements
Test sheets and schedules
Discuss and finalize testing documents with clients and consultants
Operate a wide range of primary and secondary testing equipment, including:
Relay test kits
CT/PT test equipment
Transformer testing instruments
Circuit breaker analyzers
Independently prepare site test reports and provide finalized inputs for as‑built drawings.
Ensure commissioning activities comply with applicable international and national standards.
Support project execution through technical coordination with engineering, construction, and client teams.
Technical Knowledge & Standards
Basic working knowledge of international codes and standards such as:
IS
IEC
IEEE
NEC
Familiar with HT & LT electrical power system design, including:
Review of Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
Equipment selection
Datasheet preparation and technical evaluations
Tendering & Engineering Support
Experience in preparation of:
Tender documents
Technical specifications
Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for substation projects
Provide commissioning feedback supporting design improvements and compliance.
Preferred / Added Advantages
Exposure to electrical design and compliance requirements for:
Food processing plants
Manufacturing / industrial facilities
Experience working in EPC environments or large-scale infrastructure projects.
