1. Job Purpose
The Product Owner will be responsible for delivery of OSB focused on the data platform backlog/s through shaping to live implementation aligned to the overall data platform roadmap as set by the lead Data Product Owner. The Product Owner will play key role in driving vision for data platform, understanding business needs, and translating them into actionable product requirements. They will develop and own the backlog and be responsible for and oversee the data delivery teams to drive optimisation of data platform capabilities and features delivery whilst minimising delivery effort.
2. Core Responsibilities
- Maintain and prioritise the data product platform backlog in alignment with data platform roadmap.
- Define, prioritise, and ensure clear communication of requirements to deliver data platform features using EPICS, user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Define and deliver value to customers and the organisation to achieve business outcomes as defined by the lead Data PO
- Work closely with the organisation and SMEs to develop and define acceptance criteria and success measure for features and stories, ensuring delivered data platform capabilities realise desired measurable business and operational values.
- Strive for uncompromised product standards and ensure that developed features are robust, scalable, and secure to support the growth of the business in line with the vision and priorities as defined by the Lead Data PO.
- Communicate effectively providing regular updates on project status, and potential issues.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and coaching to the supporting teams to foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including technology, design, customer service and 2nd Line of Defence to ensure successful delivery of data platform capabilities and features.
- Develop solution hypotheses iteratively, based on user research, and industry and market trend analysis
- Masterfully apply Lean Agile practices and frameworks
- Work closely with Agile teams to support backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews and system demos, ensuring readiness, clarity and successful delivery of committed work.
- Collaborate with product owners, solution managers, and cross-functional product managers, to ensure alignment towards the same program increment (PI) objectives
- Represent industry best practice and market trends to deliver a competitive edge
- Build and maintain a trusting relationship with product owners, business analyst, engineering teams, and vendors; develop influence without authority
- Ensure data platform features adhere to agreed data architecture, security, quality and governance standards.
- Ensure that you fully understand and comply with the organisation’s Risk Management Policies as they relate to your area of responsibility and demonstrate in your day-to-day work that you put customers at the heart of everything you do.

- Maintain the company’s compliance standards and ensure timely completion of all mandatory on-line training modules and attestations.
3. Experience Requirements
- Minimum 7 years previous experience as Product Owner, Product business owner or similar role is essential
- Minimum 7 years’ experience working in the financial services industry with a multi-disciplinary team on customer and business-focused data products and services is essential
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working on data change initiatives is essential
- Hands on experience operating within an Agile and SAFe framework, including PI planning, backlog refinement, sprint ceremonies and continuous improvement activities is essential.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience of Cloud Data architectures or hybrid architectures is desirable
4. Knowledge Requirements
- Strong knowledge of Agile, Lean, and continuous delivery principles that maximize flow of value throughout the organization is essential
- Strong knowledge of data solutions and an ability to translate this into solutions for the broader business is essential
- Strong knowledge of Azure data capabilities is desirable
- Background in financial services and a robust knowledge of banking data sets. Understanding of data related regulation including BCBS239 / IRB is desirable
5. Skill and Competency Requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail and a focus on continuous improvement is essential
- Proven ability to prioritize multiple demands and obtain buy-in from stakeholders is essential
- Proven ability in collaborating and leading Program Increment (PI) cycles is essential
- Proven ability to manage workshop facilitation and cultivate ideation is essential
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to analyse, articulate and present complex data issues and concepts clearly and concisely to senior stakeholders is essential.
- Good listening skills are essential
- Excellent organisational skills are essential
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively is essential
- Flexible approach and attitude is essential
- Certified SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager designation is desirable
- Certified Agile Product Manager designation is desirable
6. Required Qualifications/Certifications
- GSCE/GCE qualifications in both Maths and English are essential
- Computing / data / statistical related degree or equivalent is desirable
- Project Management qualifications are desirable.
