Qualification
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.
Experience
- 10–15+ years of relevant experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Control within the manufacturing, minerals, chemicals, ceramics, or mining industry.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a managerial or team leadership role.
Job Summary
The QA/QC Manager will lead the Quality Assurance and Quality Control function, ensuring that raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products consistently meet customer specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. The role is responsible for developing quality systems, managing laboratory operations, driving continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with quality standards, and leading cross-functional quality improvement programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the overall QA/QC function, including laboratory operations and quality assurance systems.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve quality policies, procedures, SOPs, and quality management systems.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications, statutory requirements, and applicable quality standards.
- Oversee testing and inspection of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products.
- Review and approve Certificates of Analysis (COA), quality reports, and laboratory documentation.
- Lead investigations into customer complaints, quality deviations, and non-conformities, ensuring effective implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Monitor quality performance indicators and drive initiatives to improve product quality, process capability, and customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate closely with Production, R&D, Purchase, Maintenance, and Sales to resolve quality-related issues.
- Ensure laboratory equipment is calibrated, maintained, and validated as per applicable standards.
- Plan and conduct internal quality audits and support external customer, certification, and regulatory audits.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using quality tools such as Root Cause Analysis, Kaizen, Lean, Six Sigma, FMEA, and SPC.
- Develop quality objectives, monitor departmental KPIs, and prepare periodic management reports.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the QA/QC team through training, coaching, and performance management.
- Ensure proper documentation, record retention, and compliance with company policies and quality systems.
- Participate in new product development, process validation, and quality improvement projects.
- Manage departmental budgets, resource planning, and laboratory consumables.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance, quality control, and laboratory management.
- Thorough understanding of ISO 9001 and other applicable quality management systems.
- Experience with analytical laboratory instruments and testing methodologies.
- Strong knowledge of statistical quality control tools and quality improvement techniques.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Office.
- Excellent leadership, decision-making, and team management skills.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across departments.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in hydrated kaolin, calcined kaolin, industrial minerals, chemicals, ceramics, or other process manufacturing industries.
- Experience managing customer audits, supplier quality assessments, and third-party certification audits.
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or Total Quality Management (TQM) methodologies will be an added advantage.
