A Physician (Medical Doctor) is a licensed healthcare professional responsible for maintaining, promoting, and restoring human health. Their primary role involves diagnosing illnesses and injuries, prescribing appropriate treatments, and providing preventive care to patients.
- Patient Diagnosis: Conduct physical examinations, take medical histories, and order/interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., blood work, X-rays) to identify health conditions.
- Treatment Planning: Develop and implement customized care plans, including prescribing medications, performing minor procedures, and monitoring patient progress.
- Preventive Healthcare: Educate patients on healthy lifestyle choices (diet, hygiene, exercise) and administer immunizations/screenings to prevent disease.
- Patient Advocacy & Counseling: Inform patients about their diagnosis and treatment options, answering health-related questions with compassion and empathy.
- Clinical Collaboration: Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams, including nurses, physician assistants, and other specialists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential medical records in compliance with laws like HIPAA.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
Education : Doctorate in Medicine (M.D.) or Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.)
Licensure : Current and valid state medical license and DEA registration for prescribing medication.
Soft Skills : Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, empathy, and high physical/mental stamina.
