Job Summary:
- The Fabrication Designer is responsible for converting design concepts, sketches and inputs received from the Design Head into complete, production-ready fabrication drawings using SolidWorks.
- The role translates engineering intent into accurate 3D models, sheet-metal and structural weldment details, general-arrangement (GA) drawings, part and assembly drawings, and cut / bend / weld documentation for the Company's specialised containers and E-houses (data-centre gensets, battery energy storage systems, diesel and gas generator enclosures, and compact substations).
- The position is expected to be productive from day one, requiring only minimal orientation, and to deliver drawings that are dimensionally correct, manufacturable, and aligned with shop-floor and quality requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create detailed 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings in SolidWorks from sketches, concepts and inputs provided by the Design Head — including GA drawings, sheet-metal development, structural weldments, and part / assembly drawings.
- Prepare and maintain Bills of Material, cut lists, bend allowances and weld details; ensure every drawing carries correct material grades, gauges, tolerances and finish call-outs.
- Interpret fabrication drawings and resolve design-for-manufacture issues in coordination with production, welding and quality teams; ensure drawings are fit for robotic welding and jig / fixture setup.
- Incorporate revisions, ECNs and customer / approval-drawing changes accurately; maintain version control, drawing registers and the plant numbering standard.
- Apply relevant standards and conventions — weld symbols (ISO / AWS), sheet-metal and structural detailing, GD&T and tolerancing — to Company standards.
- Support prototyping and first-article builds; mark up and correct drawings based on shop-floor feedback.
- Maintain the drawing archive, templates and standard part / component libraries.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Diploma or Degree (B.E. / B.Tech) in Mechanical / Production / Fabrication Engineering, OR ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Draughtsmanship with a strong fabrication background. Demonstrated, hands-on proficiency in SolidWorks — part, assembly, sheet-metal and weldment modules plus drawing / detailing — is MANDATORY.
- SolidWorks certification (CSWA / CSWP) preferred but not mandatory, provided practical proficiency is demonstrated in a skills / drawing test at interview.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication, GA and weldment drawings; knowledge of sheet-metal development, bend allowances, weld symbols and GD&T; understanding of steel grades, gauges and structural sections; familiarity with fabrication processes (cutting, bending, welding, machining); high attention to dimensional accuracy; and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
AMOUNT OF ENTRY EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Hands-on fabrication / structural / sheet-metal design drafting in SolidWorks within a manufacturing or fabrication environment (containers, enclosures, sheet-metal or structural fabrication).
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant drafting experience with proven SolidWorks proficiency. Candidate must clear a practical drawing test.
Pay: ₹28,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
