- Decontamination: Collect, sort, and safely wash used medical instruments using mechanical (ultrasonic cleaners, washer-disinfectors) and manual methods. [1, 2]
- Inspection & Assembly: Check instruments for damage or debris, and meticulously assemble surgical trays and sets. [1, 2]
- Sterilization: Operate and monitor specialized sterilization equipment (e.g., autoclaves) to ensure the complete elimination of microorganisms. [1, 2, 3]
- Packaging: Properly wrap and seal sterilized packs and instruments to maintain sterility until their next use. [1, 2, 3]
- Inventory & Distribution: Manage the storage of sterile goods, rotate supplies, and ensure the timely delivery of surgical kits to Operating Theatres (OT) and clinics. [1, 2, 3]
- Quality Assurance: Perform biological, chemical, and mechanical tests on sterilizers; log cycles and equipment maintenance according to strict regulatory standards. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
