Job Description
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Global IT Infrastructure Project Management & Execution Consultant to lead the planning, execution, deployment, and commissioning of enterprise IT infrastructure for large-scale greenfield and brownfield manufacturing facilities across India, China, and the USA.
The consultant will work closely with factory engineering, construction, operations, and global IT teams to translate manufacturing plant designs into secure, scalable, and highly available IT infrastructure. This role requires strong expertise in enterprise networking, datacenter deployment, Industry 4.0 technologies, vendor management, project governance, and global infrastructure rollouts.
The ideal candidate should possess extensive experience in manufacturing IT infrastructure projects and be comfortable working across construction sites, factory environments, and global stakeholder teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning, Budgeting & Site Assessment
Site Surveys & Feasibility: Conduct comprehensive site surveys for both greenfield (ground-up) and
brownfield (upgrade) facilities across India, China, and the US to assess IT requirements.
Blueprint Translation: Collaborate with civil engineers, architects, and floor managers to plan IT layouts
(server rooms, cabling routes, wireless access points) based on factory floor plans and operational stations.
Budgeting & Scheduling: Develop and own the global IT infrastructure budget. Create detailed Gantt charts
and project timelines aligned with the master factory construction and commissioning schedules.
Risk Management: Identify potential bottlenecks in supply chains, local regulations, or construction delays
and proactively develop mitigation strategies.
2. Infrastructure Design & Implementation
Network & Server Setup: Architect and deploy highly resilient Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area
Networks (WAN), and Wireless networks (WLAN) optimized for factory environments (dealing with
electromagnetic interference from heavy machinery).
Datacenter / Edge Computing: Oversee the build-out of localized server rooms (MDF/IDF) including power,
cooling, racking, and physical security.
IT/OT Convergence: Design secure network segmentation between enterprise IT and Operational
Technology (OT) to ensure continuous, secure factory operations.
3. Industry 4.0 & Manufacturing Integration
IoT & Appliance Infrastructure: Design the network fabric to support thousands of connected sensors,
automated guided vehicles (AGVs), PLC machinery, and advanced robotics.
System Readiness: Ensure the infrastructure is fully prepped and optimized to host and integrate with
Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), ERPs, and SCADA environments.
Edge Data Processing: Deploy edge computing infrastructure to support real-time data analytics and quality
control monitoring on the factory floor.
4. Procurement & Vendor Management
Global Sourcing: Lead the procurement of IT hardware, networking gear, servers, and specialized industrial
IT appliances, navigating global supply chains and local import regulations in India, China, and the US.
3rd-Party Orchestration: Select, negotiate with, and manage local ISPs, Managed Service Providers (MSPs),
and low-voltage cabling contractors in each region.
Downstream Planning: Work with vendors to create detailed runbooks, maintenance schedules, and SLA
agreements for post-go-live support.
5. Compliance, Security, & Handoff
Cybersecurity Compliance: Ensure all infrastructure adheres to global security standards (e.g., ISO 27001)
and regional data sovereignty/cybersecurity laws (especially critical for operations in China and the USA).
Documentation: Generate meticulous as-built documentation, network topology diagrams, and standard
operating procedures (SOPs).
Hyper-Care Support: Lead the IT go-live phase and transition the stabilized environment to the regional IT
operations teams.
Qualifications & Experience
Experience: 10+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure Project Management, with at least 3–5 years
specifically focused on manufacturing, supply chain, or heavy industrial environments.
Global Footprint: Proven track record of managing and delivering multi-million-dollar IT projects across
international borders (Experience in USA, China, and India is highly preferred).
Technical Acumen: Deep understanding of enterprise networking (Cisco, Aruba, etc.), server virtualization
(VMware/Hyper-V), industrial Wi-Fi deployment, and edge computing architectures.
Industry 4.0 Knowledge: Familiarity with IoT deployment, OT network security (Purdue Model), and MES
integrations.
Vendor Management: Strong negotiation skills and experience managing large System Integrators (SIs) and
localized sub-contractors.
Desired Certifications
Project Management: PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile Scrum Master.
Technical: ITIL Foundation; CCNA/CCNP, or equivalent infrastructure architecture certifications.
Security: Familiarity with CISSP or industrial control system security (e.g., GICSP) is a strong plus.
Personal Attributes
Willingness to travel extensively (up to 50-70% during peak deployment phases).
Exceptional cross-cultural communication skills to collaborate effectively with engineering teams in different
time zones.
Ability to wear a "hardhat" and comfortably navigate active construction sites while maintaining a strategic,
high-level project vision.
