Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate infection prevention and control policies and procedures.
- Conduct surveillance of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and analyze infection data and trends.
- Investigate infection outbreaks and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor compliance with infection prevention practices, including hand hygiene, isolation precautions, sterilization, and environmental cleaning.
- Perform regular infection control audits and provide feedback to department leaders.
- Educate and train healthcare staff on infection prevention protocols and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and national infection control guidelines and accreditation standards.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, laboratory personnel, environmental services, and quality teams to improve patient safety.
- Review microbiology reports and identify potential infection risks.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and infection prevention committees.
- Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and regulatory records.
- Support occupational health initiatives, including exposure management and vaccination programs as applicable.
- Assist with emergency preparedness and infection control planning during outbreaks or public health events.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid nursing license.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Minimum of 2–5 years of clinical nursing experience; infection prevention experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of infection prevention principles, epidemiology, microbiology, and healthcare regulations.
