About the Role
We are looking for an experienced, passionate and results-driven Senior Academic Counsellor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in academic counselling and possess excellent knowledge of the Indian higher education system, entrance examinations, counselling procedures and admission processes across Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) programmes.
The role involves counselling students and parents, helping them make informed academic and career decisions and leading a team of counsellors to deliver exceptional guidance and service.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct one-on-one counselling sessions with students and parents to understand their academic background, career aspirations, budget, and preferences.
- Guide students for admissions into UG and PG programmes, including Medical, Dental, AYUSH, Engineering, Architecture, Management, Computer Applications, Pharmacy, Allied Health Sciences, Nursing, Law, Commerce, Arts, Science and other professional courses.
- Provide accurate guidance on national and state-level entrance examinations and counselling processes, including NEET, JEE Main, JEE Advanced, CUET, KCET, COMEDK, TS EAMCET, AP EAPCET, KEAM, MHT CET, WBJEE, GUJCET, CAT, MAT, CMAT, GATE, GPAT and other state entrance examinations and university-specific admission processes.
- Guide students on eligibility criteria, counselling rounds, reservation policies, domicile requirements, choice filling, seat allotment, fee structures, scholarships and college selection.
- Stay updated with the latest admission notifications, entrance examinations, counselling schedules, seat matrices, government regulations and university admission policies.
- Lead, manage, mentor, and motivate a team of 8–10 Academic Counsellors.
- Conduct regular training sessions to improve product knowledge, counselling quality, and conversion rates.
- Monitor team performance and provide constructive feedback and coaching.
- Ensure timely follow-ups with prospective students and maintain accurate records in the CRM.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure a seamless admission journey from enquiry to enrolment.
- Achieve individual and team counselling and admission targets while maintaining high service standards.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Academic Counsellor in the education or admissions industry.
- Strong knowledge of UG and PG admissions across multiple disciplines.
- Excellent understanding of national and state-level entrance examinations, counselling procedures, admission criteria, reservation policies, domicile rules, seat allotment and college selection across India.
- Good knowledge of universities, colleges, admission timelines, and fee structures.
- Proven experience in handling one-on-one student and parent counselling.
- Prior experience in leading, mentoring, or supervising a counselling team is highly preferred.
- Excellent communication, presentation, counselling, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, target-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office, CRM software and online counselling platforms.
