Job Summary
The Head Chef will oversee all kitchen operations, including food preparation, menu execution, staff management, inventory control, and food safety compliance. This role requires strong leadership, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional café-style cuisine.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all day-to-day kitchen operations.
- Prepare and oversee the production of high-quality breakfast, brunch, lunch, and café menu items.
- Develop seasonal menus and introduce new dishes that align with the café's brand.
- Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff to ensure efficiency and consistency.
- Maintain high standards of food presentation, taste, and quality.
- Monitor inventory, place food orders, and minimize waste while controlling food costs.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and health regulations.
- Create staff schedules and manage kitchen labor efficiently.
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Manager in a café or casual dining environment.
- Strong knowledge of breakfast, brunch, sandwiches, salads, pastries, and café-style cuisine.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with inventory management, food costing, and supplier ordering.
- Thorough understanding of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and early mornings as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Culinary qualification or professional chef training.
- Experience creating menus and managing food costs.
- Passion for innovation and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
