Reports to: Managing Director
Location: Ahmedabad (Head Office)
Direct reports: Head Office accounts team; commercial / billing and RA bill follow-up function
Role Purpose
Own the entire finance, accounts, commercial, working-capital, banking, and compliance function across the group’s operating entities — and lead the financial transformation that takes the firm from founder-run bookkeeping to investment-grade, bankable, and ultimately listing-ready. This is the single role that most directly unlocks the firm’s two biggest constraints: working capital and IPO-readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts & Financial Control
- Own complete, accurate, timely books across all group entities; move accounting from a compliance exercise to investment-grade financials.
- Implement proper WIP (work-in-progress) accounting, inter-company elimination, and arm’s-length related-party treatment across group entities.
Working Capital & Treasury
- Own cash flow; build and run a rolling 13-week cash forecast.
- Manage receivables from government and municipal clients (RA bills, retention, security deposits) and payables to vendors and subcontractors; systematically compress the working-capital gap that limits growth.
Banking & Funding
- Build and deepen banking relationships; secure and expand credit facilities — fund-based (CC/OD) and non-fund-based (BG/LC).
- Use this capacity deliberately to expand the firm’s bonding and bid capacity, enabling the firm to pursue larger-value projects.
MIS & Decision Support
- Build management dashboards: project-wise profitability, entity-wise P&L, order book vs. revenue, and cost variance.
- Give the MD the numbers to make bid-pricing, capex, and capital-structure decisions; support tender costing.
Taxation & Compliance
- Own direct and indirect tax (income tax, GST/ITC, TDS) and corporate and statutory filings; ensure clean, penalty-free compliance; manage statutory audits.
Entity Structure & Governance
- Lead rationalisation and clean-up of the group’s entity structure, optimising for both tax efficiency and listing-readiness.
IPO-Readiness (Forward Mandate)
- Drive the multi-year journey to a credible SME listing: a clean, audited, profitable track record; corporate governance and board-grade financial reporting; and ESOP pool structuring for key talent.
- Liaise with auditors, and in time with merchant bankers and advisors, to sequence the listing.
Success Metrics (First 12–18 Months)
- Reduction in working-capital cycle days and receivables (DSO).
- Expansion of fund-based and non-fund-based bank limits.
- Books clean, reconciled, and audit-ready; inter-company and related-party issues resolved.
- Monthly MIS delivered reliably and on time.
- Tax compliance with no penalties, and a documented IPO-readiness roadmap underway.
Qualifications & Experience
- Chartered Accountant (CA) strongly preferred; CA with CS or MBA-Finance an advantage.
- 12–18 years in finance leadership, ideally in construction / infrastructure / EPC or other project-based businesses.
- Strong working-capital and banking experience — proven management of CC/OD and BG/LC limits and lender relationships.
- Familiarity with government-contracting receivable cycles is a major plus.
- Exposure to IPO, transaction, or audit environments is highly desirable; sound GST and infrastructure-sector tax knowledge.
Ideal Profile
- A strategic CFO mindset, not merely a controller — partners with the MD and is willing to challenge him.
- Builds systems and discipline inside a founder-run firm without bureaucratising it.
- Strong integrity and governance orientation — non-negotiable for the listing path.
- Energised by a growth-stage mandate and the prospect of taking a firm public.
