As an Associate Collection Specialist at Hyland, you will play an important role in supporting the timely collection of open accounts receivable while delivering a positive experience for our customers. You will work directly with sales, customer success, and billing teams to resolve collection issues efficiently and professionally. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, customer-focused professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about building strong relationships and driving resolution.
- Follow up with internal and external stakeholders to address open accounts receivable; independently escalate accounts with disputed balances to ensure timely and effective resolution
- Identify and research disputed items preventing or delaying payment; provide customers with timely, professional responses to support a positive customer experience
- Participate in customer meetings and collaborate with business partners including sales, customer success, and billing to address and resolve customer collection issues
- Maintain data integrity across all systems including billing contacts and customer collection notes; ensure accuracy and consistency in all records
- Assist in updating team process documentation to reflect current workflows and best practices; contribute to continuous improvement of collection operations
- Communicate effectively with assigned customers to resolve open accounts receivable issues; manage multiple accounts simultaneously with strong organizational and time management skills
- High School diploma or equivalent; experience with Business-to-Business collections or Accounts Receivable processes; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the principal duties of the job
- Oral and written communication skills that demonstrate a professional demeanor and the ability to interact with others with discretion and tact; interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain solid rapport with team members and professionalism with those outside of the department
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills; strong attention to detail; ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to work well under pressure with a high degree of energy and a customer service-oriented attitude
- Collaboration skills applied successfully within a team as well as independently; knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems and products; Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience communicating with internal and external stakeholders on accounts receivable or collections matters
- Demonstrated ability to identify, research, and resolve disputed items that prevent or delay payment
- Basic ability to present updates to internal and external stakeholders as needed
- Demonstrated ability to influence, motivate, and mobilize team members and business partners
- Experience maintaining data integrity in billing or CRM systems; experience contributing to process documentation and continuous improvement initiatives
