Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled CNC Operator cum Programmer to program, set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines for the production of precision machined components. The ideal candidate should have experience in CNC programming, machine setup, tooling selection, and quality inspection while ensuring maximum productivity and adherence to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs for production.
- Set up and operate CNC Turning Centers and/or VMC/HMC machines.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and workholding devices.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, process sheets, and GD&T.
- Perform machine setup, tool offset adjustments, and prove-out of new programs.
- Conduct first-piece inspection and make necessary program corrections.
- Monitor machining operations to ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
- Optimize machining parameters to improve productivity and reduce cycle time.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and report machine issues.
- Inspect finished components using precision measuring instruments.
- Maintain production records and quality documentation.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, quality standards, and 5S practices.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming (Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Haas, or equivalent controls).
- Hands-on experience with CNC Turning and/or Vertical Machining Centers (VMC).
- Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret GD&T.
- Knowledge of machining processes, tooling selection, feeds, and speeds.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments, including:
- Vernier Caliper
- Micrometer
- Bore Gauge
- Height Gauge
- Dial Indicator
- Thread Gauges
- Ability to troubleshoot machining, tooling, and program-related issues.
- Basic knowledge of CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, Edgecam, SolidCAM, or similar) is an advantage.
Qualifications
- ITI/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Tool & Die, or a related technical field.
- 3–6 years of experience as a CNC Operator, Setter, or Programmer in a machine shop.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in automotive, aerospace, precision engineering, or general manufacturing.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing, TPM, and continuous improvement practices.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or other quality management systems.
