Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this role is to lead and accelerate business growth within the Indian agrochemical sector. The Regional Business Manager will be accountable for driving sales performance, expanding market reach, and executing strategic business development initiatives across the country.
This position demands a strong technical understanding of agrochemicals, surfactant chemistry, and related chemical or polymer chemistries, coupled with the ability to build and maintain strategic client relationships, identify emerging market opportunities, and implement effective sales and commercial strategies.
The role is designed to strengthen market presence, support innovation-led solutions, and contribute to long-term commercial success. While the immediate focus is on India, the role may expand to include Sri Lanka and Bangladesh depending on organizational priorities and market opportunities.
The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with commercial acumen, leveraging their knowledge to influence customers, co-develop formulations, and secure sustainable growth across existing and new markets.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Market Expansion
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within chemical and agrochemical sectors across India
- Drive business development initiatives focused on proprietary and niche chemistries
- Travel periodically across assigned markets as per agreed schedules
Client Relationship Management
- Build and sustain strong partnerships with customers, distributors, and industry stakeholders
- Manage key accounts while developing new business pipelines
Technical Support & Product Training
- Provide expert guidance on surfactant chemistry and agrochemical applications
- Support customers with formulation development and application troubleshooting
Competitive Analysis & Business Strategy
- Conduct market research and analyze competition
- Develop and execute effective sales strategies
- Identify emerging trends and market opportunities
Collaborative Growth Initiatives
- Work closely with R&D, marketing, operations, and supply chain teams
- Support innovation-led product positioning and commercialization
Sales Planning & Performance Metrics
- Develop sales forecasts and KPIs
- Drive revenue growth aligned with company objectives
- Monitor performance and adjust strategies accordingly
Decision-Making Authority

Candidate Requirements:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Agricultural Sciences, or related discipline
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in:
- Agro-inputs
- Surfactants
- Specialty chemicals
- Polymer chemistry or allied industries
- Hands-on exposure to formulation development at laboratory and plant level preferred
- Experience in technical sales, business development, or technical marketing strongly preferred
Core Technical & Commercial Skills
Techno-Commercial Expertise
- Strong understanding of agri-surfactants, adjuvants, biological or green chemistry platforms
- Ability to translate chemistry into application value for customers
- Capability to convert technical superiority into commercial positioning
- Propose reformulations, drop-in replacements, and cost optimization strategies
Sales & Business Development
- New customer identification and market mapping
- Technical selling to R&D, production, procurement, and management teams
- Commercial contract negotiations including pricing and volume commitments
- Manage long sales cycles typical of agro-input markets
- Co-develop solutions with customers rather than selling catalog products
- Work with patent-pending or emerging chemistries
