A Dental Assistant supports the dentist in delivering high-quality patient care by preparing treatment rooms, assisting during procedures, maintaining sterilization standards, and ensuring a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for dental examinations and procedures
- Assist the dentist during treatments (e.g., fillings, crowns, extractions, root canals)
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment according to safety standards
- Take and develop dental X-rays (as permitted by state regulations)
- Prepare and organize dental materials and instruments
- Maintain accurate patient records and update medical histories
- Provide post-treatment instructions to patients
- Manage appointment scheduling and confirm patient visits
- Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and HIPAA regulations
- Maintain inventory of dental supplies and order when necessary
