Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Design & Estimation Engineer (HVAC) to join our engineering team in Delhi. In this dual-function role, you will be responsible for high-level HVAC system design, heat load calculations, equipment selection, detailed drafting using AutoCAD and HAP (Hourly Analysis Program), accurate cost estimation, and commercial proposal preparation.
You will work closely with the Sales and Project execution teams to provide technical clarity, optimize HVAC design solutions, and deliver competitive commercial tenders for commercial, industrial, and institutional projects.
Key Responsibilities1. High-Level Engineering & HVAC Design
- Perform accurate heat load calculations using Carrier HAP (Hourly Analysis Program) and heat load estimation sheets based on ASHRAE / ISHRAE standards.
- Design complete HVAC systems including VRF/VRV, Chilled Water Systems (Air-Cooled & Water-Cooled Chillers), AHUs, FCUs, Ducting Systems, Piping, and Ventilation (TFA, Exhaust, Pressurization).
- Prepare 2D layout drawings, schematics, single-line diagrams (SLD), and duct/pipe routing using AutoCAD.
- Execute equipment selection (Chillers, Pumps, Cooling Towers, AHUs, Fans, VRF units) from major OEMs based on project specifications.
- Conduct pressure drop calculations for static pressure (fans) and pump head calculations.
2. Estimation & Commercial Preparation
- Thoroughly review Tender Documents, Drawings, Specifications, and Bill of Quantities (BOQ).
- Prepare detailed Bill of Quantities (BOQ), cost estimations, and commercial proposals.
- Obtain competitive quotations from major vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors; perform techno-commercial comparisons.
- Estimate direct and indirect project costs (materials, labor, freight, installation, testing, and commissioning).
- Prepare technical compliance sheets, tender submissions, and value-engineering proposals to optimize project margins.
3. Sales Coordination & Client Engagement
- Collaborate closely with the Sales & Pre-Sales teams to understand client requirements and offer customized, cost-effective technical solutions.
- Attend technical discussions, pre-bid meetings, and clarify technical queries raised by clients, consultants, or architects.
- Assist the sales team in presenting technical proposals and defending design choices to prospective clients.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (or relevant domain).
- Technical Software Expertise:
- AutoCAD: Advanced proficiency in 2D layout drafting and schematics.
- Carrier HAP (Hourly Analysis Program): Proficient in heat load calculations and system modeling.
- MS Office: Advanced MS Excel skills for BOQ preparation, pricing models, and financial estimation.
- Industry Standards: Sound knowledge of ASHRAE, ISHRAE, NBC, and SMACNA guidelines.
- Commercial Acumen: Understanding of vendor pricing, tax structures (GST), freight, and contract commercial terms.
