About the Role
We are a fast-moving product team building high-impact platforms, including on-demand service apps, complex booking engines, and AI-powered media processing tools.
We are looking for a strong Backend & AI Engineer to architect scalable APIs, manage heavy database transactions, and seamlessly integrate Generative AI capabilities. In this role, you will own the core business logic and infrastructure, working closely with our frontend and mobile developers to deliver lightning-fast, reliable experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and maintain production-ready RESTful APIs using Python and FastAPI.
- Design robust database schemas (SQL and NoSQL) and manage complex state, including handling concurrency to prevent double-booking in live reservation systems.
- Build and manage asynchronous background worker queues (using Celery, Redis, or similar) to handle long-running tasks like AI video processing and data extraction.
- Integrate large language models (LLMs like Gemini, Claude, or OpenAI) and optimize them for cost, latency, and schema-constrained JSON generation.
- Implement secure authentication, role-based access control (RBAC), and payment gateway webhook logic.
- Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines, Docker containerization, and cloud server deployments (AWS / GCP).
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: 2+ years of professional backend development experience, primarily writing modern, type-hinted Python.
- Frameworks: Deep understanding of FastAPI (and Pydantic) for high-performance API routing and data validation.
- Database Mastery: Strong command of PostgreSQL or MySQL, including indexing, query optimization, and transaction locks.
- Concurrency & Scaling: Experience handling race conditions and managing async background jobs to prevent HTTP timeouts.
- AI Integration: Hands-on experience working with AI APIs, prompt engineering, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), and handling rate limits.
- Collaboration: Familiarity with Git workflows and writing clear API documentation (Swagger/OpenAPI) for frontend consumption.
Nice-to-Have (Bonus)
- Experience with serverless architecture or cloud storage (AWS S3) for handling large video/audio files.
- Previous experience building multi-tenant SaaS architectures or multi-sided marketplaces (e.g., driver/restaurant/customer apps).
- Familiarity with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate) for semantic search.
