Job Summary :
An Automobile Service Advisor acts as the primary liaison between customers and service technicians, managing the repair process from intake to vehicle pickup. They greet customers, diagnose service needs, prepare detailed repair orders, provide cost/time estimates, and ensure high customer satisfaction. Key responsibilities include scheduling appointments, explaining technical repairs, handling complaints, and coordinating with the parts department.
Key Responsibilities & Duties for Experienced
- Customer Interaction: Greet customers, listen to concerns, and conduct vehicle walk-around inspections.
- Service Advising: Recommend maintenance, explain technical procedures, and sell required services to customers.
- Repair Order Management : Create, update, and manage repair orders (ROs), including documenting customer concerns and technician notes.
- Estimating & Scheduling : Prepare cost and time estimates for parts and labor, and establish realistic promised times for completion.
- Workflow Coordination : Act as a liaison between technicians, parts staff, and customers to ensure smooth workflow.
- Quality Control : Ensure vehicle repairs meet company quality standards.
- Invoicing & Payment : Explain final charges to customers and handle payments.
Required Skills & Qualifications for Experienced
- Customer Service: Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust and handle complaints.
- Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of automotive systems, components, and maintenance procedures.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication to translate technical jargon for customers.
- Organization: Ability to manage multiple tasks, appointments, and repair orders simultaneously.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with dealership management systems (DMS) or database tools.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent is the minimum requirement; prior technician or service experience is preferred.
