Role Overview
The Area Sales Manager (ASM) will be responsible for building, managing, and driving the field sales operations in Mumbai.
This role requires someone who knows the Mumbai retail ecosystem inside out and can actively manage a team of Sales Representatives, Sales Executives, and Sales Officers to ensure strong market coverage and consistent sales growth.
The ASM will act as the backbone of field execution, ensuring that the team is motivated, targets are achieved, and the brand is present in every possible retail outlet.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Building & Management
- Hire, train, and manage Sales Representatives, Sales Executives, and Sales Officers
- Ensure the field team is always adequately staffed and the brand is never short of manpower
- Take hiring and firing decisions when required based on performance
- Mentor and guide the team to improve sales performance
Sales Execution
- Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets are consistently achieved
- Monitor team performance and ensure all sales KPIs are met
- Track productivity of each sales team member and drive accountability
Beat Planning & Market Coverage
- Plan beat routes and retail coverage for the sales team
- Ensure maximum penetration across kirana stores, pan shops, grocery stores, and snack outlets
- Monitor retail visits and ensure consistent field execution
Distributor Management
- Develop strong relationships with distributors across the territory
- Identify and appoint new distributors when required
- Work closely with distributors to drive sales targets
- Ensure smooth order flow, stock availability, and retail supply
Market Expansion
- Identify new retail outlets and distribution opportunities
- Ensure the brand achieves strong visibility and availability in the market
- Gather market intelligence and competitor insights

- Have strong experience in FMCG field sales
- Have a strong network with distributors and retailers
- Be capable of building and managing a field sales team

- Be comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment
Experience
- 3–6 years of experience in FMCG sales
- Experience managing field sales teams
- Experience handling distributors and retail networks
