The Legal Counsel Operations will have a unique opportunity to support and help shape legal
support and direction to Ansell’s global Operations group.
This opportunity will provide practical, risk-conscious and actional legal advice to Global Engineering, Manufacturing/Plants, Procurement, Global Sourcing and related teams within Operations, as well as partnering and supporting functional teams (e.g. HR, Finance) and the broader team within our Legal & Compliance Function.
You will have the necessary flexibility, curiosity, judgment and cultural awareness to provide
advice across borders (with primary focus in APAC locations where Ansell operates manufacturing
facilities) with judicious and economical use of outside counsel.
RESPONSIBILITIES & SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Negotiate and advise Operations regarding a wide variety of commercial contracts,
including NDA’s, Manufacturing, Supply/Sourcing and Services Agreements, as well as
finance, employment and any other type of agreements required to support Operations.
- Support human resources in managing a diverse and geographically dispersed workforce.
Address employee disputes, benefits questions, terminations, and other employee issues.
- Advise Operations on various legal topics including corporate and commercial law
matters, contract law, employment law and data privacy.
- Manage corporate secretarial function for all Ansell subsidiaries in APAC (primarily as it relates to Operations). Collaborate with Finance to complete statutory reporting as required by applicable legislation and standards (anti-money laundering, governance, corporate social responsibility, etc.).
- Recommend, manage, and budget for outside counsel in APAC (primarily as it relates to Operations) to secure clear, actionable input in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Manage litigation as it relates to Operations through outside counsel.
- Champion, model and train colleagues on corporate ethics, compliance and the Ansell Values. Support the Legal Function in corporate compliance, governance and reporting initiatives, including compliance training and internal investigations.
- Keep abreast of relevant evolving legal requirements.
- Assist with other Operations projects throughout, as directed by the Lead Counsel, Operations or by Ansell’s SVP & General Counsel.
- Support the Legal Function in developing standard contracts/documents and associated processes and systems. Proactively contribute to the Legal team ‘s planning, cohesion, consistency in advice, and the general efficiency and effectiveness of the team as a whole.
KEY POSITION REQUIREMENTS
About You:
- Must have excellent academic credentials and be a qualified lawyer in good standing with eligibility to practice in your jurisdiction.
- 2+ years (3+ preferred) of post-law school experience working as an attorney in a multinational company or law firm with a multinational clientele.
- Experience with Manufacturing Operations preferred
- Experience working across the globe in support of multiple time zones and cultures and remotely.
- Understanding of litigation and commercial/corporate transactional processes
- Good working knowledge of standard office technology and equipment and office procedures
- Fluent in English other languages would be a plus point
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, the ability to influence and interface effectively with leadership across all business functions.
- Excellent written communicator, able to present complex legal issues clearly and concisely to nonlawyers.
- Energy and enthusiasm, with desire to learn and assume responsibility
- Learn “on-the-fly”, hands-on individual
- Pragmatic and practical mindset, with no-nonsense approach and customer focus & service-friendly mindset
- Team player with good judgment to understand when to escalate matters
- Ability to manage workflows and processes
- Strong organizational and time-management skills

- Ability to deal with and preserve highly sensitive and confidential information
- Ability to travel regularly within APAC (~5-10%).
