Job Summary
Responsible for assessing patients' nutritional needs, preparing individualized diet plans, providing diet counselling to IP and OP patients, and coordinating with doctors and nursing staff to support patients' treatment and recovery.
Key Responsibilities
1. In-Patient (IP) Services
- Conduct nutritional assessment for admitted patients.
- Review patients' medical condition, diagnosis, laboratory reports and dietary requirements.
- Prepare individualized therapeutic diet plans as prescribed/recommended by the treating doctor.
- Monitor patients' food intake, nutritional status and tolerance.
- Conduct regular diet reviews and modify diet plans based on the patient's condition.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses and kitchen/food service team regarding patient diets.
- Provide diet counselling to patients and attendants before discharge.
- Ensure special diets are provided correctly, including diabetic, renal, cardiac, low-salt, soft, liquid and other therapeutic diets.
2. Out-Patient (OP) Services
- Provide individual diet consultations for OP patients.
- Prepare personalized diet plans based on the patient's condition, lifestyle and nutritional requirements.
- Counsel patients regarding weight management, diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol and other nutrition-related conditions.
- Provide follow-up consultations and monitor dietary progress.
- Educate patients on healthy eating habits, portion control and lifestyle modification.
3. Clinical & Administrative Responsibilities
- Coordinate with treating doctors regarding patients requiring specialized nutritional intervention.
- Conduct nutrition education sessions for patients and attendants.
- Participate in health camps and hospital wellness programs.
- Support awareness activities related to nutrition and healthy lifestyle.
- Maintain daily/monthly reports related to IP and OP diet consultations.
Required Qualification
- B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Nutrition & Dietetics / Food & Nutrition
- Clinical/hospital experience preferred.
- Freshers with relevant qualification may also be considered.
Desired Skills
- Good communication and counselling skills, patient-handling skills.
- Ability to understand medical conditions and dietary requirements.
- Ability to work with doctors, nurses and other hospital departments.
- Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
