Transport Manager
Job Summary
The Transport Manager oversees all transportation operations to ensure safe, cost-effective, and timely movement of goods. Responsible for managing fleet, drivers, routes, compliance, and logistics coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Fleet Management: Maintain company vehicles, schedule servicing, insurance, FC, and permit renewals. Monitor fuel usage and vehicle downtime.
- Route Planning & Scheduling: Plan efficient routes to reduce cost and delivery time. Allocate vehicles and drivers based on daily requirements.
- Team Supervision: Recruit, train, and manage drivers and logistics staff. Monitor driver performance, attendance, and conduct.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure compliance with RTO rules, transport laws, and safety standards. Conduct regular safety audits and driver training.
- Cost Control: Monitor transport budgets, fuel costs, tolls, and maintenance expenses. Negotiate with vendors for vehicle purchase, spares, and fuel.
- Documentation: Maintain records of vehicle logs, trip sheets, delivery challahs, e-way bills, and driver licenses. Handle accident claims and insurance.
- Coordination: Liaise with warehouse, sales, customers, and vendors to ensure on-time delivery/pickup. Handle client complaints related to transport delays.
- Tracking & Reporting: Use GPS/telematics to track vehicles. Submit daily/weekly reports on fleet utilization, costs, and KPIs to management.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Automobile Engg, or related field.
- Experience: 3-5 years in transport/fleet management. Experience with tanker, or commercial vehicles mandatory.
- Licenses: Valid driving license. Knowledge of MV Act, RTO procedures, and permit types.
Key Skills
- Strong knowledge of local routes, tolls, and state transport rules With Language Communication Knowledge.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP, and GPS tracking software.
- Problem-solving during breakdowns, accidents, or route issues
- 24/7 availability for transport emergencies.
Salary Range
Experience Salary/Month
3-5 years ₹30,000 - ₹40,000
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
