About the Opportunity:
At Ericsson, we're shaping the future of connectivity through cutting-edge 5G and cloud-native technologies. We're looking for a Solution Test Engineer to lead end-to-end testing, system integration, automation, and validation of Ericsson Private 5G solutions ( BEWS - Private Networks). In this role, you'll work across 5G Core, RAN, Kubernetes, and cloud-native platforms, drive quality through automation and CI/CD, troubleshoot complex network issues, and collaborate with global teams to deliver world-class telecom solutions.
What You Will Do
- Test Design & Execution: Design and execute detailed E2E system test plans for Ericsson Private 5G (EP5G) solutions, ensuring full coverage of 3GPP features and customer use cases.
- System Integration: Integrate and validate 5G components, including Cloud-Native Core (cn5GC), RAN, and Management/Orchestration platforms, ensuring seamless interoperability.
- Advanced Validation: Own the E2E validation for specific feature sets across performance, scaling, and stability, utilizing CI/CD pipelines for automated regression.
- Protocol Debugging: Perform deep-dive troubleshooting of complex call flows using tools like Wireshark/QXDM to analyze NAS/AS signaling and interfaces (N1, N2, N3, etc.).
- Automation Development: Develop and maintain automated test scripts within a Python/Robot Framework environment to increase test velocity and reliability.
- Stability & Performance Testing: Design and run soak tests, stress tests, and load models to identify memory leaks and system bottlenecks before deployment.
- Mentorship: Provide technical guidance to junior engineers, conduct peer reviews of test cases, and contribute to the team's internal knowledge base.
Skills You Bring
Bachelor’s/Master’s in CS, EE, or related field with 6–8 years of experience in Telecom/Network testing.
5G/4G Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of 3GPP architectures and protocols (NGAP, S1AP, RRC, HTTP/2). Ability to analyze multi-interface traces to isolate faults.
Cloud-Native Skills: Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (K8s), Docker, and Helm. Understanding of K8s networking (Services, Load Balancers, and CNI basics) is essential.
Networking Foundations: Solid knowledge of L2/L3 networking, including IPV4/V6, VLANs, Routing, and familiarity with OSPF/BGP.
Automation Proficiency: Strong Python scripting skills and experience with Robot Framework (or similar) to automate complex system-level scenarios.
System Validation Expertise: Proven ability to design test cases for performance (throughput/latency), scaling, and stability (soak/reliability).
Infrastructure & Tools: Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments. Experience with industry tools such as Spirent (Landslide), Keysight, or Viavi.
