We are seeking a skilled Welder with a background in the automobile industry, specifically within specialized vehicle fabrication. You will be responsible for the fitting, and structural welding of chassis components, water tanks, and bodywork for emergency vehicles. The ideal candidate understands that in fire truck fabrication, there is zero room for error—every weld and bolt must meet life-saving standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Fabrication & Welding
- Perform high-quality ARC and MIG/MAG welding on various metals, including carbon steel, stainless steel (for water tanks)
- Read and interpret technical blueprints and engineering drawings to execute precise cuts and joins.
- Fabricate specialized brackets, compartments, and structural supports tailored for firefighting equipment.
2. Quality & Safety Compliance
- Conduct leak tests on fabricated tanks and high-pressure manifold systems.
- Ensure all fabrications meet automotive safety standards and ISO certifications.
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace, adhering to PPE requirements at all times.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years in automotive fabrication, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked on Fire Tenders, Ambulances, or Heavy Recovery Vehicles.
- Technical Proficiency: * Expertise in Arc, MIG welding positions.
- Proficiency in using plasma cutters, grinders, cut off saw.
- Ability to use precision measuring tools (verniers, calipers).
Physical Requirements & Soft Skills
- Detail Oriented: A "near enough is good enough" attitude doesn't work when building life-saving equipment.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to work in confined spaces (inside tanks) or at heights (on top of chassis) for extended periods.
- Problem Solver: Ability to troubleshoot fitment issues on the fly during the prototype phase.
