Planning Engineer
Job Purpose
To develop, monitor, and control project schedules for industrial construction projects, ensuring timely completion of activities through effective planning, progress monitoring, resource management, and coordination with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Planning & Scheduling
Prepare detailed project schedules using Primavera P6/MS Project.
2. Develop Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and project baselines.
3. Prepare master schedules, look-ahead schedules, and recovery plans.
4. Establish project milestones and monitor critical path activities.
5. Develop resource-loaded schedules and manpower histograms.
*Project Monitoring & Control*
1. Monitor project progress against approved baselines.
2. Track productivity, progress percentages, and schedule variances.
3. Conduct delay analysis and identify risks affecting project timelines.
4. Prepare catch-up and mitigation plans for schedule slippages.
5. Generate weekly and monthly progress reports.
Coordination & Stakeholder Management
1. Coordinate with civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and contractor teams.
2. Attend project review meetings and present planning updates.
3. Liaise with clients, consultants, and contractors regarding project schedules.
4. Ensure alignment of construction activities with overall project objectives.
*Reporting & Documentation*
1. Prepare MIS reports, dashboards, S-curves, and progress presentations.
2. Maintain project planning records and schedule revisions.
3. Monitor procurement and engineering deliverables impacting construction schedules.
4. Prepare EOT (Extension of Time) support documents and delay reports.
*Risk Management*
1. Identify schedule risks and recommend corrective actions.
2. Perform critical path and float analysis.
3. Support project control and risk mitigation initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
Certification in Primavera P6/MS Project preferred.
Experience
8–10 years of experience in planning and scheduling of industrial construction projects.
Experience in PMC, EPC, manufacturing plants, warehouses, steel plants, cement plants, pharmaceutical, chemical, or infrastructure projects preferred.
