Job Purpose
To oversee and manage all mechanical maintenance activities of the chromite ore beneficiation plant for ensuring smooth plant operation, minimum breakdown, maximum equipment availability, and safe maintenance practices.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, supervise, and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of all mechanical equipment in the plant.
Ensure smooth functioning of crushers, screens, conveyors, pumps, hydrocyclones, thickeners, ball mills, slurry pipelines, agitators, and beneficiation machinery.
Monitor daily plant equipment performance and take corrective action to minimize downtime.
Prepare preventive maintenance schedules and ensure timely implementation.
Coordinate with operations department for planned shutdown and maintenance activities.
Analyze recurring equipment failures and implement corrective and preventive measures.
Maintain proper spare parts inventory and coordinate with stores/purchase department for procurement of critical spares.
Supervise fitters, welders, technicians, and maintenance staff for efficient execution of maintenance work.
Ensure proper lubrication management and condition monitoring of equipment.
Monitor fabrication and erection works during plant modification or expansion activities.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, work permit systems, and statutory maintenance regulations.
Maintain maintenance records, logbooks, breakdown reports, and equipment history sheets.
Prepare maintenance budget and monitor maintenance cost control.
Coordinate with OEMs, contractors, and service engineers for specialized maintenance work.
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for major equipment failures.
Ensure proper housekeeping and safe working conditions in maintenance areas.
Train maintenance team members on maintenance procedures and safety practices.
Participate in plant performance improvement and reliability enhancement initiatives.
Ensure availability and operational efficiency of utility systems such as compressors, pumps, pipelines, and water systems.
Submit daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports to management.
Educational Qualification
Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience
8–15 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in mineral processing, beneficiation plant, mining, steel, or heavy industrial plant.
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of beneficiation plant equipment maintenance.
Leadership and manpower handling skills.
Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance systems.
Good troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
Knowledge of safety procedures and industrial maintenance standards.
Computer knowledge for maintenance reporting and documentation.
