Job Summary:
The General Manager will be responsible for overseeing the overall operations of the plastic injection moulding plant, ensuring efficient production, quality control, cost management, and timely delivery. The role involves strategic planning, team leadership, and coordination across departments such as production, toolroom, maintenance, quality, supply chain, and sales to achieve business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Production & Operations
- Manage complete plant operations including moulding machines, welding, power press, and other production activities.
- Ensure production targets are achieved as per planning and customer requirements.
- Monitor machine utilization, production efficiency, rejection control, and downtime reduction.
- Improve productivity, process optimization, and cost control.
- Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
Post Process Machining
- The candidate will be responsible for handling complete post-process machining operations and managing overall shop floor activities related to machining, drilling, tapping, grinding, cutting, finishing, and assembly processes. The role includes supervising CNC, VMC, and conventional machine operations, ensuring production targets are achieved with required quality standards, and monitoring machine utilization, cycle time, productivity, and downtime reduction. The candidate will coordinate with production, quality, maintenance, and dispatch teams to ensure smooth workflow and timely output. Responsibilities also include maintaining dimensional accuracy as per drawings and specifications, handling tooling and fixtures, implementing preventive maintenance activities, supervising operators and shift manpower, ensuring safety compliance on the shop floor, and maintaining daily production and MIS reports. The candidate should also drive continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S, Kaizen, lean manufacturing, and process optimization to improve efficiency and reduce rejection and rework.
Team Management
- Handle production supervisors, operators, maintenance teams, and support staff.
- Monitor manpower planning, attendance, discipline, and shift management.
- Conduct training and performance evaluations for plant employees.
- Maintain healthy industrial relations and team coordination.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure product quality standards are maintained.
- Coordinate with quality teams for rejection analysis and corrective actions.
- Maintain safety standards, machine safety, and statutory compliance.
- Ensure compliance with ISO, EHS, and company policies.
Maintenance & Machine Management
- Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance activities.
- Ensure smooth functioning of moulding machines, welding machines, and power press equipment.
- Minimize machine downtime and improve equipment reliability.
Planning & Reporting
- Prepare production reports, MIS reports, and operational analysis.
- Coordinate with purchase, stores, dispatch, and management teams.
- Monitor inventory, raw material utilization, and production scheduling.
Qualification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Production / Polymer Engineering or related field.
- MBA in Operations / Management will be an added advantage.
Experience:
- 12–18 years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in plastic injection moulding industry.
- Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership or plant management role.
