Position: Senior Patent Associate
Job Summary
We are looking for a Senior Patent Associate to manage and execute patent-related activities, ensure timely completion of assigned IP matters, maintain quality standards, and support effective coordination with clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
The ideal candidate should have strong experience in patent drafting, prosecution, IP operations, and handling patent matters independently.
Key Responsibilities1. Patent Operations & Case Management
- Handle end-to-end management of assigned patent matters, including filing, prosecution, and post-filing activities.
- Monitor case progress and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Track statutory deadlines and coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely actions.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records for assigned matters.
- Support other IP matters, including trademarks, designs, and copyrights, as required.
2. Patent Drafting & Prosecution
- Draft and review patent applications, amendments, and related IP documents.
- Analyze examination reports, office actions, and FER responses.
- Assist in preparing responses to Patent Office communications.
- Coordinate with inventors and clients to collect technical inputs and clarifications.
- Ensure compliance with Patent Office requirements and procedural guidelines.
3. Patent Research & Analysis
- Conduct prior art searches and patentability analysis.
- Perform technology and competitor analysis.
- Prepare patent summaries, reports, and research findings.
- Support IP strategy and portfolio-related activities.
4. Quality Review & Documentation
- Review patent documents for accuracy, completeness, and quality before submission.
- Ensure adherence to internal quality standards and client requirements.
- Identify areas of improvement and coordinate necessary corrections.
5. Client & Internal Coordination
- Coordinate with clients for case updates, document requirements, and timelines.
- Provide regular status updates on assigned matters.
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth execution of projects.
- Address routine client queries related to assigned matters.
6. Docketing & Compliance Management
- Maintain accurate records of deadlines, filings, office actions, hearings, and grants.
- Ensure timely tracking of prosecution milestones.
- Prepare case status reports and updates as required.
7. Team Collaboration & Support
- Coordinate with junior associates, trainees, and support staff for assigned projects.
- Provide guidance on patent procedures and workflow management.
- Support knowledge sharing and team development initiatives.
8. Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency and turnaround time.
- Suggest improvements in documentation, tracking, and reporting processes.
- Follow established SOPs and contribute towards process enhancement.
9. Reporting & Updates
Maintain and prepare reports related to:
- Patent filings
- Office actions
- FER responses
- Hearings
- Grants
- Pending matters
- Client deliverables
- Case status updates
10. External Coordination
- Coordinate with patent illustrators, translators, and other external service providers.
- Communicate with foreign associates for assigned matters, wherever required.
- Support coordination with relevant authorities and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 5+ years of experience in patent drafting, prosecution, and IP operations.
- Strong understanding of Indian Patent Law and Patent Office procedures.
- Experience in handling patent applications independently.
- Good analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple IP matters and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualification
- Registered Patent Agent certification is an added advantage.
- Experience in client communication and IP portfolio management will be an advantage.
