Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior AWS DevSecOps and Platform Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Europe. Our client is a leading global toy manufacturer with an award-winning, robust portfolio of wholly owned and licensed brands. Founded in 1997, the company celebrates imaginative play with a progressive focus on identifying emerging trends and turning them into high-quality products for consumers of all ages. It engages consumers through innovative play experiences with popular brands. In addition to toys, offerings include Metaverse gaming, costumes, and pet products.

You'll define, build, and govern the cloud platform. You will own the design and enforcement of platform architecture standards, drive infrastructure-as-code practices, embed security into CI/CD pipelines, and lead the engineering team in delivering a scalable, secure, and developer-friendly AWS environment. It is a senior leadership-track role for an engineer who is equally strong technically and in cross-functional collaboration.

REQUIREMENTS:

8+ years of progressive experience in DevSecOps, Cloud Engineering, or Platform Engineering.
3+ years of hands-on experience in Terraform development and infrastructure automation at scale.
3+ years of experience managing or leading high-performing technical teams.
Advanced knowledge of Terraform (modules, remote state, workspaces, provider management).
In-depth understanding of AWS services: EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, CodePipeline.
Proven track record designing and operating secure, highly available cloud platforms.
Experience with CI/CD tooling such as AWS CodePipeline/CodeBuild, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or equivalent.
Experience with AWS security services, including GuardDuty, Inspector, KMS, Security Hub, and WAF.
Expertise in monitoring & observability with CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or equivalent.
Strong knowledge of Python, Bash, or similar for automation.
Knowledge of container orchestration, ECS, EKS, or equivalent experience with Kubernetes.
Strategic thinker who balances long-term platform vision with near-term delivery.
Strong communicator with the ability to present architecture decisions and trade-offs to engineering and executive stakeholders.
Security-first mindset that treats security as a first-class concern in every design decision.
Ownership mentality with the ability to take accountability for platform reliability, performance, and cost.
Natural mentor who elevates the team around them.

NICE TO HAVE:

AWS certifications: Solutions Architect Professional, DevOps Engineer Professional, or Security Specialty.
Experience with service mesh technologies (Istio, App Mesh).
Background in FinOps/cloud cost optimization practices.
Exposure to multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environments (Azure, GCP).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Define, govern, and evolve platform architecture standards, 'golden path' patterns, and AWS reference architectures.
Drive creation of self-service tools and internal developer platforms (standardized CI/CD templates, deployment tooling).
Conduct formal architectural reviews and establish platform governance and cloud cost management strategies.
Champion adoption of modern architectural patterns, including microservices and serverless.
Design, implement, and manage modular Terraform modules for AWS infrastructure provisioning.
Ensure IaC is reusable, scalable, secure, and well-versioned to minimize technical debt.
Enforce code testing, version control, and modularization best practices across the team.
Integrate security practices directly into platform pipelines through automated security testing and vulnerability scanning.
Implement and enforce IAM, access control, and network security best practices in AWS environments.
Leverage native AWS security services (GuardDuty, Inspector, KMS, Security Hub) to strengthen the security posture.
Build and manage centralized CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, and Terraform.
Drive pipeline automation to enable faster, more reliable, and secure releases.
Implement and maintain infrastructure monitoring, logging, and alerting systems for platform health and security.
Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations (GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2, etc.) across cloud infrastructure.
Lead incident response for cloud platform infrastructure and security events.
Conduct security risk and vulnerability assessments; implement mitigations proactively.
Mentor and guide junior and mid-level cloud engineers; conduct design and code reviews.
Collaborate with product, security, and application teams to align platform capabilities to business needs.
