Job Summary
Sri Muthukumaran Medical College Hospital & Research Institute (SMMCHRI) invites applications from qualified and enthusiastic candidates for the position of Assistant Professor – Anatomy. The selected candidate will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research, and academic activities while maintaining the highest standards of medical education in accordance with National Medical Commission (NMC) norms.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate (MBBS) and postgraduate students in Anatomy.
- Conduct lectures, practical classes, dissection hall sessions, tutorials, and demonstrations.
- Prepare lesson plans and maintain academic and attendance records.
- Participate in curriculum planning, student assessments, and university examinations.
- Guide students in research activities, projects, and academic development.
- Conduct and publish research in indexed journals.
- Participate in CMEs, workshops, conferences, and faculty development programs.
- Ensure compliance with NMC regulations and institutional academic policies.
- Assist in departmental administration, accreditation, inspections, and quality improvement initiatives.
EligibilityMedical Faculty
- MD/MS in Anatomy or an equivalent postgraduate qualification recognized by NMC.
- Must fulfill the NMC eligibility criteria for the post of Assistant Professor.
- Teaching experience and research publications as per NMC norms.
Non-Medical Faculty
- M.Sc. in Medical Anatomy and Ph.D. in Medical Anatomy obtained through a regular, in-campus course from a recognized medical institution, as per NMC regulations.
- Must fulfill the applicable NMC eligibility criteria for appointment as non-medical faculty.
- Relevant teaching experience and research publications are preferred.
Preferred Skills
- Strong knowledge of Gross Anatomy, Histology, Embryology, Neuroanatomy, Genetics, and Applied Anatomy.
- Knowledge of Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME).
- Excellent teaching, communication, mentoring, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong research aptitude with publication experience.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary academic environment.
