Key Responsibilities
- Support the design and development of mechanical components and systems, participating in brainstorming and detailed design documentation.
- Produce 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, and prototypes using industry-standard design tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Autodesk Inventor.
- Assist in research, engineering analysis, and testing of designs, including the use of simulation and finite element analysis software.
- Prepare technical reports, document engineering processes, and communicate findings or concepts to cross-functional teams.
- Participate in quality assurance, validate prototype performance, and support efforts to improve product efficiency and manufacturability.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s program in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Working knowledge of mechanical design principles, CAD software, and 3D modeling.
- Basic understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacturability (DFM) principles.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience or coursework in product design, prototyping, and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with manufacturing methods such as CNC machining, sheet metal, extrusion, and casting.
- Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and engineering standards.2
