Role Description
The PGT Economics teacher plans and delivers lessons in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Indian Economic Development, and Statistics for Economics in accordance with the prescribed curriculum of boards such as CBSE, ICSE, or State Boards.
The teacher is responsible for creating an engaging classroom environment, preparing lesson plans, conducting assessments, evaluating student progress, and providing academic guidance. The role also includes integrating real-world economic concepts, current affairs, and technology-based teaching methods to enhance learning outcomes.
In addition to classroom teaching, the PGT Economics teacher participates in co-curricular activities, parent-teacher meetings, examination duties, and school administrative responsibilities. The teacher is expected to maintain academic records, support student development, and contribute to the overall academic excellence of the institution.
1. Teaching Senior Secondary Students
- Teach subjects such as:
- Microeconomics
- Macroeconomics
- Indian Economic Development
- Statistics for Economics
- Explain economic theories, concepts, graphs, and current economic issues.
- Prepare lesson plans aligned with board syllabus.
2. Classroom Management
- Maintain discipline and a productive learning environment.
- Encourage discussions, debates, and analytical thinking.
- Manage classroom activities effectively.
3. Assessment & Evaluation
- Conduct:
- Unit tests
- Assignments
- Projects
- Pre-board exams
- Evaluate answer sheets and provide feedback.
- Track student progress and identify weak learners.
4. Curriculum Planning
- Prepare annual and monthly academic plans.
- Complete syllabus within timelines.
- Integrate case studies, real-world economic examples, and current affairs.
5. Student Guidance & Mentoring
- Guide students for:
- Board examinations
- Competitive exams
- Career options in Economics, Commerce, and Finance
- Provide remedial coaching where needed.
6. Use of Teaching Aids & Technology
- Use:
- Smart boards
- Presentations
- Economic data charts
- Online learning platforms
- Conduct interactive and activity-based learning.
7. Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain attendance and academic records.
- Prepare report cards and progress reports.
- Participate in staff meetings and school committees.
8. Co-curricular & School Activities
- Organize:
- Commerce/Economics clubs
- Quiz competitions
- Seminars and exhibitions
- Assist in school events, admissions, invigilation, and inspections.
9. Parent Communication
- Attend parent-teacher meetings.
- Discuss student performance and improvement plans.
10. Professional Development

- Attend workshops, FDPs, and training sessions
Key Responsibilities
- Teach Economics to Classes XI and XII

Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Economics
- B.Ed. qualification
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
