Our platform provides brand visibility monitoring, competitive benchmarking, citation analysis, tracked prompt intelligence, and content optimization recommendations, giving marketing and product teams the data they need to compete in the era of AI-driven search.
We are an early-stage AI SaaS startup based in Bengaluru, building the category of AI Search Optimization (AISO). Our backend powers real-time data collection across all major AI platforms and transforms it into actionable competitive intelligence for our customers.
We are seeking a Backend Developer Intern to work on our production Python backend. This is a hands-on role where you will ship real features to customers while being mentored and reviewed by the founding engineering team.
What You Will Work On
As a Backend Developer Intern at Astiva AI, your code directly powers how brands track their AI search visibility. You will:
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs using Python and FastAPI that serve our Brand Monitoring Dashboard, Competitive Intelligence Hub, and Citation Analysis modules
- Implement background and asynchronous jobs
- Design database schemas and write migrations for PostgreSQL
- Integrate third-party APIs, including LLM providers (OpenAI, Anthropic) and CMS platforms for our Content Engine module
- Write unit and integration tests using pytest to ensure data accuracy across our multi-platform monitoring pipeline
- Debug issues across API, worker, and database layers in a production environment serving real customers
Follow secure, multi-tenant coding practices, including data isolation and avoiding secrets.
Required Skills
- Python (beyond tutorials, you have built or contributed to a real project)
- REST APIs (understand routing, request/response patterns, status codes, error handling)
- SQL (joins, indexes, query optimization, not just SELECT *)
- Git (branching, pull requests, clean commit history)
- Problem-solving and debugging ability
- Attention to detail and a test-your-work mindset

Eligibility
Students or recent graduates in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience. Strong Python fundamentals and a willingness to learn.
