Fitter
Take ownership of mechanical fitting, assembly, and installation activities across water and wastewater infrastructure projects — from fabrication yard to site commissioning.
● Key Requirements:
Mechanical Fitting: Hands-on proficiency in fitting, assembly, and installation of pumps, pipelines, valves, flanges, and associated mechanical equipment used in water supply and wastewater treatment systems.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, isometric pipe drawings, and General Arrangement (GA) drawings for accurate site execution.
Working knowledge of pipe fitting, threading, flanging, and jointing techniques for MS, CI, DI, HDPE, uPVC, CPVC pipelines.
Experience with alignment, levelling, and installation of rotating equipment such as centrifugal pumps, blowers, and motors.
Familiarity with basic tools, measuring instruments (vernier calipers, spirit levels, torque wrenches), and rigging/lifting practices.
Site & Safety Compliance:
Awareness of safe working practices — use of PPE, working at height, confined space entry, and permit-to-work (PTW) systems.
Ability to carry out minor fabrication, cutting, grinding, and welding support activities on site.
● Soft Skills:
Strong attention to detail with the ability to work from technical drawings and verbal instructions.
Ability to coordinate with engineers, supervisors, and other site trades to ensure smooth execution.
Self-motivated with the capacity to work independently and meet project timelines.
Good physical fitness for site-based work including lifting, carrying, and working in varied conditions.
● Job Description:
Execute mechanical fitting, assembly, and installation activities for water supply, distribution, ETP/STP, and pumping station projects.
Work closely with the mechanical and project engineering teams to carry out site tasks as per approved drawings and specifications.
Support commissioning activities including pre-commissioning checks, alignment verification, and punch-list closure.
● Responsibilities:
Install, assemble, and commission pumps, motors, blowers, and associated mechanical equipment at project sites.
Carry out pipeline installation — cutting, threading, flanging, jointing, and pressure testing of water and wastewater pipelines.
Perform fitting and assembly of skid-mounted pumping stations, valve chambers, and mechanical screens as per design drawings.
Read and interpret mechanical drawings, isometric pipe layouts, and P&IDs for accurate on-site execution.
Conduct routine checks, minor maintenance, and troubleshooting of installed mechanical equipment during the defect liability period.
Maintain cleanliness and safe working conditions at all times on site; adhere to HSE policies and site safety rules.
Coordinate with electrical and instrumentation teams for integrated equipment installation and pre-commissioning activities.
Prepare daily work progress reports and report any site issues or material shortages to the site in-charge promptly.
Support the project team in material handling, unloading, and storage of mechanical components at site.
Assist during site inspections, client walkthroughs, and third-party testing/inspection activities.
● Academics and Experience:
ITI (Fitter Trade) — mandatory.
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering preferred but not mandatory.
Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in fitting and installation works for water supply, wastewater treatment, pumping stations, or industrial piping projects.
Demonstrated ability to work from engineering drawings independently.
Experience with installation of submersible pumps, centrifugal pumps, and pipeline systems is preferred.
Familiarity with basic hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments essential for site fitting activities.
Willingness to travel to project sites across Maharashtra and other states as required.
● Preferred:
Valid driving license for 4-wheelers (Light Motor Vehicle) — preferred for independent site travel and mobility.
