Job Summary
A Manager on Duty (MOD) in a hospital acts as the administrative representative during a designated shift (day or night), ensuring smooth operations, patient safety, and staff coordination. Key responsibilities include handling emergency situations, addressing patient complaints, managing staff, and enforcing hospital policies.
Duties
- Operational Oversight: Supervising daily operations across departments to maintain high standards of care, including, but not limited to, ICU, ER, and, in some cases, logistics.
- Emergency & Incident Response: Acting as the primary responder to critical incidents, medical emergencies, and urgent, unplanned events.
- Staff Coordination & Leadership: Managing, scheduling, and supporting clinical and non-clinical staff during the shift.
- Patient Experience Management: Addressing patient/visitor complaints and ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
- Policy Enforcement & Compliance: Ensuring all hospital policies, safety procedures, and regulatory standards are adhered to.
- Reporting: Providing shift reports to senior management regarding operational performance, incidents, and administrative issues.
- Develop and implement public relations strategies to promote the organization's mission and goals
- Manage social media platforms and engage with the audience to enhance brand awareness
- Write, edit, and distribute press releases, articles, and other communication materials
- Conduct research to identify trends and opportunities for the organization
- Organize and oversee events to enhance public perception and engagement
- Act as a spokesperson for the organization and handle media inquiries
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistency in messaging across all channels
