An Automobile Floor Supervisor is the critical link between service advisors and technicians, responsible for managing daily workshop operations. They ensure that vehicle maintenance and repairs are completed on time, meet high-quality standards, and achieve maximum customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Work Allocation: Assigns repair and maintenance job cards to technicians based on their specific skill sets and bay availability to maximize productivity.
- Quality Control: Conducts live tracking of the repair process, ensures "First Time Right" (FTR) fixes, and verifies work quality to eliminate repeat complaints.
- Time Management: Drives strict adherence to promised delivery times, coordinating with service advisors if any cost or time overruns occur.
- Process Compliance: Ensures that technicians follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), use specialized tools properly, and maintain a safe, clean 5S workspace.
- Technical Support: Provides advanced diagnostic assistance, on-the-job training, and mentoring to junior mechanics on the floor.
- Customer Interfacing: Assists service advisors in handling technical customer escalations and explaining complex repairs directly to vehicle owners.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Typically requires 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in an automotive service or manufacturing environment.
- Education: A diploma, ITI (Industrial Training Institute), or bachelor's degree in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering.
- Core Skills: Strong technical knowledge of vehicle diagnostics, leadership, time management, and proficiency in basic computer/dealer management systems (DMS).
